DAY 18 -28th of March

Today we had the exhibition day. I was able to see all of 3DDA's work, which was very impressive but also inspiring. Some of the students had a high standard of work, which pushed me to raise the bar. It was really interesting to see the different ways students from different pathways were approaching research and development.

On Wednesday, I started my small-scale model. I realized the 1 to 1 scale component I wanted to make was too big for the 50 by 50 spot for the end-of-the-year exhibition. The 1 to 10 was too big as well so I've decided to make two 1 to 18 models to show how modular it can be.

For the exhibition today, I exhibited my prototype exploring the shape of the design, my current work in process (1 to 18 model), and my unscaled model with a background and some small figurines to show some context, as well as my sketchbook. I received a lot of feedback, with some stating that my bench clearly explored product-user interaction which reassured me. It was nice to have some feedback from people that never seen my work before, like a fresh opinion.

Action plan for Easter Break Week 1:

Research manufacturing processes with wood and wood carving
Research materials: different wood, wood finishes, and nets (sports, nautical….)
Research net attachments
Design sheets - primary research, secondary research, technical, development
Design sheets - Start Process
Update the bibliography with the new research
Source nets and nets attachments for the outcome
